By: Lauren Montague, columnist
Hi! I’m Lauren, and I’m so excited to be joining the opinions team here at the Whitworthian.
I’m a senior English major with a minor in editing and publishing, and for three and a half years now I have loved being on campus, getting to know the other students and the professors here at Whitworth. One of the things I’m looking forward to while working on the Whitworthian is getting to know you all even more and being able to represent your voices this semester.
More about me: I’m a sucker for good books, good movies and a good Red Robin tavern double. I’m from the West side. I’m the oldest sibling of four and therefore have a reputation as both a protector and a peacemaker. I also have a labradoodle named Chancellor (named after Kam Chancellor in true Seattle fashion). I dream of being Sandra Bullock from The Proposal, partly because she’s a badass book editor but mostly because she marries Ryan Reynolds.
Since being an oldest sibling is part of my identity and a role that I take seriously, I plan on starting a column called “Ask Your Older Sister.” Here, you can ask the kind of questions that you would ask of a sibling, with no fear of judgement but with an advised expectation of some sarcasm. Your questions could be about anything from “How do I tell Mom I got a tattoo?” to “What does it mean when a girl says she’s fine?” to everything in between. I’ll do my best to give the kind of advice I would give my siblings. Whether it’s good advice is for you to decide.
