Whitworth defeated Willamette on Saturday, 9-4, with a lot of help from Willamette’s atrocious defense: Willamette committed six (yes, six) errors in the game. Whitworth freshman Tyler Pfeffer had an outstanding day at the plate, going four for four with a home run and four RBI’s. Five different Whitworth players contributed an RBI for the win (including senior pitcher Nathan Johnson). Johnson also got the win on the mound, giving up only two runs in five innings pitched; his record now stands at 5-4.
This win gives Whitworth a winning record (11-10) in conference play heading into their final week of play (three games against rival Whitman College next Saturday and Sunday). The Pirates are currently only one game under .500, with an 18-19 overall record.
