Autumn is in full swing in Spokane, Washington and there is much to experience before all the leaves fall! Spokane offers activities, sights and eats for one to immerse themselves not only in the season, but also the city. It can be overwhelming to decide how to make the best of your fall day, so here is a Whitworthian’s guide to Spokane in autumn.
Start off your day with a caffeine kick. Spokane has an espresso stand around every corner, each with their own fall specials.
On Division Street, BRU Coffee Hause offers their “BRU Boo’s.” These specialties consist of their Monster Matcha, the Hocus Pocus Bru Booster, the Bats & Cats ice cream shake and the Mr. Jack Pumpkinmallow coffee.
Dutch Bros advertises their Caramel Pumpkin Brulee as their “fall masterpiece.” Treat yourself to this pumpkin and salted caramel flavored breve, topped with their Soft Top, pumpkin drizzle and raw sugar sprinkles. There are 13 Dutch Bros locations to choose from in Spokane.
A pumpkin flavored beverage is the perfect tag along for a fall walk, hike or drive. Several parks in the area showcase autumnal picturesque trees. View the beauty of warm colored leaves against the brisk air.
The downtown area is home to a few of these parks. The Centennial Trail carves its way through miles of Spokane, one of its trailheads being Riverfront Park. This is already a great location for Spokane sightseeing with things such as the Spokane River and Clock Tower. The fall season paints a new look onto the park with the warm hues of autumn. Take a walk or hop on a Lime scooter to explore Riverfront Park.
Further south of Whitworth is Manito Park. This park is known for its five botanical gardens. However, even in the off-season of the flowers, Manito Park is worth the visit. Walk along the koi ponds of the Nishinomiya Tsutakawa Memorial Japanese Garden lined with trees of bright red or set up a picnic under the golden leaves of the north side of the park.
