Kati Bodecker was announced in late March as the new head volleyball coach at Whitworth University for this coming fall. Bodecker is a former University of Idaho volleyball player who is currently finishing out a head coaching position at Priest River Lamanna High School.
Bodecker is returning to Whitworth after working under Steve Rupe as an assistant coach in 2007. She was attending the school to get her masters in secondary education with an English endorsement.
Freshman volleyball player Maddye Dinsmore is excited for what Bodecker has in store.
“I think it will be very beneficial,” Dinsmore said. “She has a lot of new ideas and a vision for what she wants our program to be like. She seems very passionate and experienced with playing and coaching so it was very inviting.”
Dinsmore pointed out the number of returning athletes the volleyball team will have next year.
“I think its going to be a great fresh start,” Dinsmore said. “We didn’t graduate anyone so it will remain a good team bond and chemistry which will bring more confidence.”
Bodecker currently lives in Priest River with her family. She has begun spring training with the women’s volleyball team and commutes from Idaho for practices.
