The men’s basketball team clinched the Northwest Conference title in a 79-76 win over rival Whitman last night. Whitworth has now won the title for an NWC record, fifth consecutive season.
In a battle of the top two teams in the conference, the Pirates were able to come out on top despite a career-high 30 points on 13-18 shooting from Whitman forward Ben Eisenhardt.
Senior guard Dustin McConnell led the Bucs with 22 points and three assists in his second consecutive game playing all 40 minutes. Senior guard Colton McCargar scored 14 points in limited minutes due to foul trouble and freshman forward Christian Jurlina scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Whitworth will finish out the regular season Friday at Lewis & Clark.
