This year’s incoming students were able to fulfill another Whitworth tradition that was previously put on hold by the pandemic: Community Building Day.

The annual day of service is organized by the Dornsife Center for Community Engagement and sends all incoming freshmen– plus any Whitworth community volunteers– across campus and the city of Spokane to fulfill various service projects and deepen Whitworth’s relationships with the broader Spokane community.

This year on September 22, 2021, students and community partners completed a variety of projects including litter pickup and weeding in downtown Spokane as well as maintenance of the Back 40 and the Westminster garden on campus.
