This weekend the Whitworth men’s golf team divided and conquered at Kalispel Country Club, the team’s home course.The A team took third place with a final score of 305 the first day and 307 the second day of the tournament, giving the Pirates a total score of 612, while the B team took fifth place, shooting a 305 and a 315, to give them a total score of 324. In front of the A team was Willamette and Pacific Lutheran. There were seven competing in the tournament
The Pirates’ A team consisted of Sam Stiles, ‘20 who finished in a tie for 3rd place, Triston Hartfiel, ‘20, Reily Hegarty, ‘20, JackRyan O’Neil, ‘20, and Preston Roth, ‘19. The B team included Elijah Pittser, ‘19, Ryan Brown, ‘19, Keegan Lou, ‘20, Caleb Belton, ‘21, and Tyson Odden, ‘20.
“Our goal is to ultimately win every tournament, but especially conference” said sophomore Triston Hartfiel, who tied for 16th place at the tournament. To accomplish this, Hartfiel stated “the importance of staying focused throughout the tournament, and not to get upset when things aren’t going ideal”. On a personal level, Hartfiel has a goal of not shooting in the 80s and being more consistent in his scores.
The Pirates will be back out on the course Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14 and 15, at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic in Banks, Oregon at Quail Valley golf course.
