The Whitworth Men’s Tennis team lost a close match Saturday, 5-4 to Pacific (Ore.). This loss dropped the Pirates to 2-2 in the Northwest Conference, and 3-5 overall. Pacific is also now 2-2 in the conference, but they are 3-2 overall after their win over the Bucs.
The match began well for Whitworth, as seniors Colin Zalewski and Joe Wales won their number one doubles match 8-3. Whitworth sophomores Cameron Williams and Micah Spaun also won their number three doubles match, 8-6. The Pirates found the singles matches to be a bit more challenging, however, and only managed to win twice. Whitworth junior Daniel Redfern won his hard-fought number one singles match, 8-6, 7-5. Whitworth sophomore scored a comeback victory in his number four singles match, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
