As a successful fall sports season for the Whitworth University Pirates draws to a close, we look to a summary of their accomplishments.

The Nov. 11 record-setting win over Linfield University rendered Pirate football the sixth undefeated team in school history, 1 of only 11 undefeated Division III football teams in the country out of 247 teams, as well as nationally ranked Northwest Conference Champions.

Following a Nov. 18th at-home victory over Chapman University, Whitworth advanced to the second round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III playoffs for the third time, following appearances in 2006 and 2018.

Pirate cross country hosted the Northwest Conference (NWC) cross country championships two weeks ago, the men’s team taking third place, only 16 points away from second, and the women’s team taking a bittersweet fifth while only falling 14 points short of second. This meet capped off a solid season for the Pirates, one of many great conference performances.

Following a 15-10 record and second place finish in the NWC (12-4), Pirate volleyball laid claim to a number of conference honors, Kaity Barr taking first in the team All-NWC and Ella Jimenez being a second team selection on the 2023 All-NWC volleyball squad. Cassidy Franklin and Amblessed Okemgbo also joined Barr and Jimenez as honorable mention recipients.
