An adult degree student died Monday during a police altercation.
James Rogers, a junior in the Bachelor of Liberal Studies program, was armed with a shotgun, and had been identified as suicidal.
After two hours of negotiations, Rogers continued to refuse to give up his weapon.
A police officer then fired six times, killing Rogers.
In an all-campus email sent Wednesday, president Beck Taylor asked the Whitworth community to join in praying for Rogers’ family.
Taylor also said that counseling services will be available for students and employees.
