Whitworth won a close one on Tuesday, 1-0, over visiting Lewis and Clark State. The win moves Whitworth to an overall record of 15-16. Whitworth senior pitcher Nathan Johnson had an absolutely lights out game; he pitched all nine innings, and only gave up five hits, and no runs. The Pirates only point of the day came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Whitworth junior Landon Scott hit a solo home run (his fifth of the season); Scott was two for two with a walk on the day. Johnson is now 4-3 on the season, with a 4.02 ERA; while Scott is now batting .402, with 26 RBIs.
Whitworth’s next game will be at noon, this Saturday, at Pacific (Ore.), it will be a double header.
